We are currently seeking an experienced Commercial Officer to join a high-profile MOD programme on a 12-month maternity cover contract. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a critical defence project, supporting post-contract commercial activities within a complex delivery environment.
Location: Manchester (hybrid working options available)
Security Clearance: Active SC clearance required
Contract Type: Inside IR35
Day Rate: £300–£350 per day (umbrella)
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support post-contract commercial management across a major MOD programme
- Manage supplier relationships, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations
- Handle contract variations, change control, and commercial risk mitigation
- Provide commercial insight and guidance to project and programme stakeholders
- Support dispute resolution and contract close-out activities as needed
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience in a Commercial Officer or similar role within defence or government programmes
- Strong background in post-contract management
- Prior experience working with the MOD or within defence environments
- Ideally experience with a private sector prime contractor
- Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills
- Active SC clearance is essential
Desirable:
- Familiarity with defence procurement processes and regulations
- Experience working in complex, multi-supplier programme environments
