An established and growing engineering business operating in the defence and technology sector is looking to appoint a Interim Buyer to support its expanding supply chain function.
This is a hands-on, operational procurement role focused on ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of purchasing activities across a niche, specialist supply base.
You'll be joining a business that works with highly specialised electronic and mechanical suppliers in a fast-paced, delivery-driven environment.
The Role
This position will sit within the procurement team and take ownership of core transactional and administrative buying activities, including:
- Raising and managing purchase orders
- Booking in stock and maintaining accurate system records
- Supporting RFQs and supplier communications
- Tracking orders through to delivery
- Maintaining supplier data and documentation
- Supporting the wider team with procurement administration
- Ensuring accuracy across ERP/MRP systems
You'll play a key role in keeping procurement operations running efficiently and supporting senior buyers with smooth execution.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience in a procurement, purchasing or buying support role
- Experience raising POs and managing supplier orders
- Comfortable working with ERP/MRP systems
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Confident communicating with suppliers
- Able to work 2-3 days per week onsite
- ESSENTIAL β Full right to work in the UK and eligible to obtain BPSS (Baseline Personal Security Standard)
- Experience within manufacturing, engineering, defence or electronics environments would be advantageous.
