An established and growing engineering business operating in the defence and technology sector is looking to appoint an Interim Buyer to support its expanding supply chain function. This is a hands-on, operational procurement role focused on ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of purchasing activities across a niche, specialist supply base.

You’ll be joining a business that works with highly specialised electronic and mechanical suppliers in a fast-paced, delivery-driven environment.

The Role

This position will sit within the procurement team and take ownership of core transactional and administrative buying activities, including:

  • Raising and managing purchase orders
  • Booking in stock and maintaining accurate system records
  • Supporting RFQs and supplier communications
  • Tracking orders through to delivery
  • Maintaining supplier data and documentation
  • Supporting the wider team with procurement administration
  • Ensuring accuracy across ERP/MRP systems

You’ll play a key role in keeping procurement operations running efficiently and supporting senior buyers with smooth execution.

What We’re Looking For
  • Previous experience in a procurement, purchasing or buying support role
  • Experience raising POs and managing supplier orders
  • Comfortable working with ERP/MRP systems
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Confident communicating with suppliers
  • Able to work 2-3 days per week onsite
  • ESSENTIAL – Full right to work in the UK and eligible to obtain BPSS (Baseline Personal Security Standard)
  • Experience within manufacturing, engineering, defence or electronics environments would be advantageous.
