We’re partnering exclusively with a leading global organisation in the rail and infrastructure sector to recruit an experienced Senior Contract Commercial Manager to join their growing Commercial & Legal team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on some of the UK’s largest and most complex rail infrastructure programmes, supporting both major bids and live projects across high-profile transport clients.

The Role

As a Senior Contract Commercial Manager, you’ll be responsible for leading the commercial and contractual aspects of major infrastructure bids and projects, working closely with Legal, Sales, Project Delivery and senior stakeholders to manage commercial risk and deliver successful outcomes. This is a varied role offering exposure to both pre-contract and post-contract activities, with genuine opportunities for career development across a diverse project portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the commercial management of complex bids and live projects.
  • Review, negotiate and manage customer contracts.
  • Identify and mitigate commercial and contractual risks.
  • Develop commercial strategies throughout the bid lifecycle.
  • Support and lead commercial negotiations with customers and partners.
  • Coordinate input from Legal, Engineering, Insurance and other specialist teams.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide commercial guidance throughout project delivery.
  • Support governance and approval processes.

About You

We’re looking for an experienced Commercial professional who can demonstrate:

  • Significant Commercial or Contract Management experience within infrastructure, defence, rail, engineering or a similar complex project environment.
  • Strong contract review and negotiation experience.
  • Excellent commercial judgement and risk management skills.
  • Experience supporting both bids and project delivery.
  • Outstanding stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • The ability to work independently while collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.
  • A good understanding of contract law and commercial principles (a legal qualification is not essential).
