Overview

Driving a 3.5 tonne van to deliver a variety of products to our customers doorsteps, on-time and in great condition. Completing checks to ensure the van is organised, clean and roadworthy, and that delivery cases are secure before getting onto the road. Serve our customers brilliantly, supporting with any questions and keeping them aware of any delays. Confident in learning to use new technology to do the job, comfortable driving a large vehicle in different locations from residential streets to country lanes. When not on the road, help maintain a slick operation in the stock room or on the shop floor. Build knowledge about our products, services and promotions to help provide recommendations.

As one of the leading UK digital retailers, Argos provides customers with convenience, choice and value across a vast range of products. As a Home Delivery Driver in a standalone store, you’ll provide a fast-track service that brings Argos products to customers’ doors.

Responsibilities

  • Drive a 3.5 tonne van to deliver products to customers’ doors, ensuring on-time delivery and products arrive in good condition.
  • Perform checks to keep the van organised, clean and roadworthy, and ensure delivery cases are secure before setting out.
  • Serve customers professionally, answer questions and keep them informed of any delays.
  • Learn to use new technology for the role and drive a large vehicle in varied locations, from residential streets to country lanes.
  • When not driving, assist with maintaining an efficient operation in the stock room or on the shop floor.
  • Develop product knowledge to provide recommendations and assist customers in the store environment.

Eligibility

  • You must be over 18 and hold a full UK/EU driving licence for at least 12 months with no more than 6 points.
  • You will complete an online driving risk assessment as part of the interview and, if successful, a driving assessment on joining.
  • You must have Right to Work eligibility in the UK.
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts across the week with three shift blocks during the day: 05:00–13:00, 13:00–18:00, 18:00–22:30. Hours will fit around availability and may vary; overtime opportunities may be available, including supporting local Sainsbury’s.

  • Friendly and professional with enthusiasm for helping customers and delivering the best doorstep experience.
  • Proficient driving a large vehicle in different locations, delivering to various residential properties.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, physical environment, using initiative to solve problems, often independently but also as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work flexibly and perform a range of store skills after training, with opportunities to learn and develop.
  • Embraces using new digital tools and technology to perform the job effectively.
