An established manufacturing site in Winsford is currently seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join their engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to move away from shift work and into a stable Monday to Friday days role while working on a varied range of plant equipment.
The Role
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining plant equipment and facilities to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation. The role focuses primarily on mechanical maintenance while also supporting electrical and instrumentation work where skills allow. The successful candidate will play a key role in minimising downtime, improving equipment reliability and supporting production to meet business and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance on plant equipment and site facilities
- Support maintenance activities across instrumentation and electrical systems where competency allows
- Identify equipment issues and improvement opportunities and communicate these to the Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Planner
- Follow and maintain safe working practices and company procedures
- Ensure all work is completed in line with environmental, health and safety standards
- Maintain a clean and organised workshop and ensure work areas are left in a safe condition after maintenance activities
- Participate in occasional out-of-hours work or call-outs when required by the business
Skills and Experience
- Qualified Maintenance Technician (Mechanical bias preferred)
- Previous experience working within heavy engineering, manufacturing, or processing environments
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Experience working with plant and rotating equipment
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Good communication skills both written and verbal
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new equipment and technologies
Desirable Experience
- Experience working with the following equipment would be advantageous:
- Motors and gearboxes
- Hammer mills and grinding mills
- Rotating equipment such as mixers and blenders
- Screw conveyors and belt conveyors
- Bucket elevators
