We are recruiting an Engineering Team Leader on behalf of a highly respected automated distribution business with multiple sites across the UK. This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking, well-invested organisation where engineering plays a critical role in operational success.
The Role
As Engineering Team Leader, you'll be responsible for leading a shift-based maintenance team within a fast-paced automated environment. The role is hands-on, with a strong focus on people leadership, asset reliability, and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading, motivating, and supporting a team of maintenance engineers
- Coordinating planned and reactive maintenance activities
- Acting as the escalation point for complex breakdowns and faults
- Ensuring compliance with H&S, site standards, and engineering best practice
- Driving improvements in up time, efficiency, and maintenance processes
- Supporting training, development, and performance management of engineers
About You
We're looking for a maintenance professional with supervisory or team leadership experience, ideally from an automated, manufacturing, FMCG, logistics, or distribution environment.
You’ll ideally have:
- A strong electrical and/or mechanical maintenance background
- Previous experience in a supervisory, senior engineer, or team leader role
- Experience working in a fast-paced, automated environment
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- A proactive, calm, and confident leadership style
- Relevant engineering qualifications (NVQ / HNC / HND or equivalent)
