The Opportunity

We are recruiting for an experienced Quality Systems Manager to join a leading food manufacturing business. This is an excellent opportunity for a quality professional with strong food safety and compliance experience to take ownership of the site's Quality Management System (QMS) and play a key role in maintaining the highest standards of food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.

Reporting to the Head of Technical, you will be responsible for ensuring the business remains audit-ready, continuously improving quality systems, and supporting a culture of food safety and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and continuously improve the site's Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with BRCGS, retailer, customer, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain and update quality procedures, policies, and controlled documentation.
  • Lead HACCP activities, food safety risk assessments, and allergen management programmes.
  • Conduct gap analyses against customer requirements, industry standards, and codes of practice.
  • Investigate non-conformances, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Support food safety culture initiatives, crisis management procedures, and product recall processes.
  • Prepare for and participate in customer, third-party, and regulatory audits.
  • Support and oversee internal audit programmes and ensure corrective actions are completed.
  • Produce KPI reports, trend analysis, and quality performance metrics.
  • Manage customer complaints, technical enquiries, and quality-related investigations.
  • Monitor emerging risks relating to food safety, food fraud, TACCP/VACCP, and supply chain vulnerabilities.
  • Work collaboratively with operational and technical teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Candidate Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience managing quality systems within a manufacturing environment, ideally within food manufacturing.
  • HACCP Level 3 (or higher) qualification with practical HACCP experience.
  • Food Hygiene Level 3 (or higher) qualification.
  • Strong experience with BRCGS accreditation and customer audits.
  • Knowledge of food legislation, allergen management, TACCP/VACCP, and root cause analysis methodologies.
  • Internal Auditor qualification or equivalent auditing experience.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and reporting capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
  • A proactive approach to continuous improvement and food safety culture.
