Mechanical Fitter – Stockport

Salary: £42,500 + Excellent Benefits (Pension, Life Assurance, 25 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays)

Hours: Monday to Friday – Days Only (No Weekends)

Evening Cover: 1 in every 5 weeks (Driving licence required)

The Role: As a Mechanical Fitter, you’ll be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, repairs, and installations across a range of production equipment and plant machinery. You’ll work as part of a small, skilled maintenance team ensuring machinery runs efficiently and downtime is kept to a minimum.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform mechanical maintenance, fault finding, and repair work on manufacturing equipment.
  • Carry out installations, strip downs, and rebuilds as required.
  • Work from engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Support production teams to ensure smooth plant operations.
  • Participate in an evening cover rota (1 in every 5 weeks).

About You:

  • Time-served Mechanical Fitter or equivalent engineering qualification.
  • Strong background in mechanical maintenance within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must hold a full UK driving licence (due to evening cover requirements).
