Our client is a large, global manufacturing organisation operating within a fast-paced, high-volume production environment. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit a mechanically biased Mechanical Engineer to strengthen their site-based engineering team in Carlisle. The Role
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving the reliability and performance of production machinery and site equipment. Working as part of a multi-skilled engineering team, you will support continuous production while driving high engineering and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive mechanical maintenance
- Mechanical fault finding and breakdown repair on manufacturing equipment
- Working on conveyors, gearboxes, bearings, pumps, motors, hydraulics and pneumatics
- Supporting continuous improvement and reliability initiatives
- Ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with site H&S standards
- Contributing to root cause analysis and reduction of repeat failures
- Liaising with production teams to minimise downtime
The Person
We are looking for a hands-on, mechanically biased engineer who thrives in a fast-moving manufacturing environment.
Key Requirements:
- Time-served apprenticeship or recognised mechanical engineering qualification
- Strong mechanical maintenance and fault-finding background
- Experience within a manufacturing, FMCG, or industrial environment
- Comfortable working rotating shifts
- Proactive, reliable, and team-focused approach
Desirable:
- Basic electrical knowledge (not essential)
- Experience with continuous improvement or TPM environments
The Package
