Contract Type: Permanent
Shift pattern is 4 on 4 off twelve hours days and nights. Salary will be £55,000.
Introduction to role: My client is a global market leader in baggage handling systems for airports, sorting systems for distribution and postal services, and Warehouse Solutions. Working within their Distribution Centre, the Team Leader will be leading, coordinating & managing the Service technicians and ESO's to ensure productivity & output, equipment availability, H&S compliance, quality, Maximo reporting and team working is optimised in accordance with agreed timescales.
Role Responsibilities:
- This role will involve maintaining and optimising the performance of the equipment and staff in terms of operational safety, availability, responsiveness and throughput to meet the contractual service levels.
- Act as first point of escalation and seek to resolve issues as they arise.
- Focused on maximising the operational output of the system.
- Responsible for the maintenance team and any contractors working on their behalf with the primary objective to achieve optimum work performance, productivity and reliability, including where necessary measures to improve performance.
- Promoting positive morale within the team, a positive High Performing Culture and identifying talent, working with the Site Manager to agree PDP's and active participation in developmental support.
- Organise teams in all aspects of working time, presence at work, work rosters, staffing matrix, building access, health and safety inductions, material handling safety requirements, holiday and sickness, absence cover and overtime work.
- Enable plant monitoring, fault detection and correction by use of proven procedures that provide for early detection, well-thought-out prioritisation, speedy response, containment of fault propagation as well as mitigation of impact to the primary operational objectives (i.e. safety, availability, throughput).
- Report building covering system productivity including performance and team performance as well as Verification & validation of the team's contractual performance against predetermined metrics.
- Ensure stock is logged out correctly including work order closure and completion.
- Ensure correct PPE is worn, permit and LOTO procedures are followed.
- Interface to customer in a Professional and Courteous Manner either face to face, telephone, email.
- Ensure contract SLAs are consistently achieved and improved.
- To be the principal point of contact for the Service Team with regards to the above and responsible for the reporting in accordance with the agreed schedules and company procedures.
- Ensure proper handover of shift duties including tools and gear as well as ongoing unresolved matters, areas of concern and plant equipment that was only just returned to service.
- Ensure work is carried out 'right first time' and instigate Root for major or repetitive breakdowns.
- Attend meetings with the customer and other Vanderlande functions in order to liaise and debrief operational matters, pick up, verify and settle concerns, progress joint efforts, propose worthwhile ways ahead while building reliable and trustworthy relationships.
- Offer strategic insight to the development of the onsite teams.
- Disseminate comprehensive, accurate and presentable reports according to the contractual obligations and other mutual agreements in a timely manner.
- Ensure all work entered into Maximo correctly and in a timely manner.
- Responsible for the continuous improvement of policies and procedures as well as learning continuously and developing professional potential and ability.
Role Qualification And Skills:
- Understand how to collect, validate sufficient information to carry out root cause analysis and develop recommendations for implementation.
- Strategic planning and delivery for site development and team capability.
- Good interpersonal skills and able to communicate precisely both in writing and verbally at all levels.
- Be computer literate and have ability to read and interpret drawings.
- Be able to plan and prioritise workload.
- Be able to work on own initiative as well as a member of a team.
- Have previous experience in managing multi-skilled maintenance teams.
- Previous experience within a Material Handling System, FMCG manufacturing or automated warehousing environment (essential).
- A proactive approach to fault finding alongside excellent communication skills.
- Be a team player with a flexible and pragmatic attitude.
- Experience of supporting automated systems with a good level of electro-mechanical skills.
- Relevant vocational and/or technical qualifications (ONC/HNC).
- Have experience in using PLC's and diagnostics.
- Have experience in training/coaching.
- Experience in RCA and Lean methodologies.
