Belfast based multi-channel retailer Argento was founded in 1997 and has 25 stores throughout the UK and Ireland. We are currently seeking an experienced Maintenance Assistant to join the busy Head Office Team working for the Argento Group (includes Argento retail, Angus Properties and Lets Go Hydro).

Location: Various role will involve travelling to our stores across the UK & Ireland and the wider Argento Group, including Lets Go Hydro.

Contract: Permanent, Part Time, Monday to Wednesday, 0800 to 1630 (including breaks), however overtime may be required to meet operational need. 24 hours.

Reporting to: Maintenance Manager

Salary: £15.00 per hour

Job Summary: Coming from a varied background in terms of maintenance works/labourer, experience within the retail sector, working on retail shop fit outs will be advantageous. You will be responsible for preventative and reactive maintenance works across the Argento Group.

Main Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out appropriate maintenance works promptly and to the highest standards to deliver an excellent finish. Main duties will include but not be limited to:

  • To carry out shop fit out works to a high quality finish
  • General ongoing repairs and maintenance, ensuring stores are maintained to the high standards
  • Detailed joinery; assembling display cabinets, replacing and fixing cabinets, trims, architraves etc.
  • Painting / decorating, wall & floor tiling and grouting.
  • Minor plumbing and electrical repairs
  • Any other reasonable duties as required

Essential Criteria:

  • Good knowledge of other trades, including maintenance, joinery, painting & decorating, plumbing, tiling and shop fitting
  • The ability to work within a schedule whilst using own initiative to problem solve
  • The ability to manage your own time on multiple projects and to meet high standards ensuring a high quality finish
  • Ability to work to deadlines under pressure
  • Highly organised and great attention to detail
  • Satisfactory levels of fitness to carry out duties and tasks
  • Good communication skills
  • Knowledge of health and safety requirements relevant to a maintenance role
  • Ability to use tools and equipment in a safe manner
  • Must be prepared to work at heights using ladders, scaffolding and work in confined spaces and in a variety of work conditions that may prevail at that time
  • Pro-active with ability to manage own schedule and use initiative
  • Full clean driving licence and access to vehicle
  • Valid CSR Card
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Ability to travel, and flexibility to work additional hours, including evening and weekends, and on occasion away from home, including store fit outs / maintenance repairs throughout the stores in NI, ROI, England and Scotland

Desirable Criteria: Maintenance works within the retail sector, working on retail shop fit outs will be advantageous.
