We are currently seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant to join the busy Head Office Team working for the Argento Group (includes Argento retail, Angus Properties, Lets Go Hydro & Lets Go Padel). This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to progress within a fast-paced commercial environment.
Contract: Full time permanent
Location: Argento Head Office, Belfast BT1 (currently based in City Centre, and will be relocating to new premises at 10 Lelia Street, Belfast BT4 approx end of May / June 2026)
Hours of work: Monday to Friday (full five-day office based)
Salary: £Competitive (depending on skills and experience)

Job Summary: Support the Financial Controller with day to day running of the finance function, helping to ensure accurate financial information is delivered on time. This is a varied and hands-on role offering exposure to month end processes, transactional finance, and commercial reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting with preparation of monthly management accounting, budgets & forecasts across multiple entities
- Assisting the purchase ledger, sales ledger and payroll processes
- Assist with fixed assets, accounts payable and account receivables, asset registry, VAT and Intrastat
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and bank accounts
- Support month-end processes including journals, accruals and prepayment
- Assist with supplier invoices and support payment runs
- Assist with credit control and customer account reconciliations when required
- Provide financial support to operational teams across the Group
- Maintain accurate financial records in line with company policies
- Support year-end audit preparation
- Supporting the Financial Controller in leading & coaching the team, including people management, training and development
- Assist with ad-hoc reporting and finance projects
Essential Criteria:
- Qualified/Part Qualified with one of the following Professional accounting Bodies (CIMA, ACCA, ACA)
- Minimum of three years accounts experience within a busy accounting environment
- Exposure to working across multiple entities is desirable
- Experience in working with Sage 200
- Experienced in working to tight deadlines within a highly pressured and change orientated commercial environment
- Ability to work as a part of a team
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
- Proactive and organised with the ability to meet deadlines
