About the role

  • In this role you will take ownership of key compliance activities and provide experienced, risk-based advice and challenge to support the overall objectives of the Argenta Group’s Legal and Compliance Function.
  • You will get involved in a variety of tasks within, compliance and corporate governance activities for all group entities.
  • You will be a senior member of a high-performing team, providing guidance to colleagues and acting as a trusted point of contact for the business.
  • You will support the Head of Compliance in the successful delivery of the objectives of the Compliance Function.

As the Compliance Manager, your key responsibilities will involve

  • Own and lead the Conduct Risk framework, including Consumer Duty, the Consumer Duty Board Attestation Report, Product Governance, Product Value and Product Lifecycle reviews and in relation to vulnerable customers. Provide authoritative advice, guidance and constructive challenge to Underwriters and senior stakeholders on conduct risk matters.
  • Lead the preparation and presentation of high-quality compliance reporting for the Executive Product Oversight Group (EPOG), Product Oversight Working Group (POWG), , highlighting material risks, trends and recommended actions.
  • Own the development of clear, concise and decision-focused papers on compliance matters for Board and Committee reporting across the Argenta Group.
  • Provide senior oversight of UK and international (including in relation to the Australian operation)client and insurance policyholder complaints, ensuring appropriate nvestigation, escalation, resolution and reporting in line with regulatory requirements. Provide senior management and oversight of client and insurance policyholder complaints, using trends and root cause analysis to drive improvements in customer outcomes and controls.

  • Plan and lead thematic deep-dive reviews across all areas of compliance in accordance with the Compliance team’s Annual Plan, presenting findings and agreeing proportionate remedial actions with the business.
  • Lead periodic reviews of compliance procedures, policies and process documents in line with the governance timetable,and provide senior review and challenge of other governance materials containing compliance-related content,
  • Design and implement enhancements to compliance controls and monitoring mechanisms, assessing their effectiveness and ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements, codes of practice, guidance notes and policy statements.
  • Lead and deliver allocated elements of the compliance monitoring programme, including contract certainty, licensing, money laundering and financial crime, and underwriting transactions written via Lloyd’s Insurance Company Europe.
  • Take ownership of accurate and timely compliance reporting to Argenta’s parent, Hannover Re, coordinating input and providing appropriate analysis and commentary.
  • Proactively assess relevant regulatory developments, determine their potential impact, and lead engagement with business owners to support effective implementation.
  • Own the end-to-end collation, quality assurance and timely submission of PRA, FCA and Lloyd’s regulatory returns, escalating risks or issues where appropriate.
  • Own and oversee Argenta’s Financial Promotion sign-off process, providing clear advice and challenge to stakeholders.

About you

  • 5 years’ relevant compliance experience within insurance or financial services, including ownership of complex activities and engagement with senior stakeholders.
  • A strong, current understanding of the regulatory environment in which the Lloyd’s market operates, specifically PRA, FCA and Lloyd’s requirements, including Lloyd’sPrinciples for Business.
  • Proven ability to assess, interpret and apply regulatory change within a business environment, lead regulatory change activity and influence accountable business owners.
  • Demonstrable experience of undertaking complex research and analysis and producing concise, decision-focused reports that clearly articulate key themes, risks and recommended actions.
  • Confident presenting compliance conclusions and recommendations to business stakeholders, senior management, committees and, where required, Board-level audiences.
  • Intermediate working knowledge of MS Office products, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint and Co-Pilot.
  • A collaborative, conscientious and diligent approach, with the judgement and credibility to provide independent challenge in line with regulatory expectations.
  • A proactive self-starter who can manage competing priorities, make sound risk-based judgements and deliver high-quality outcomes under pressure.
  • Demonstrate a team-focused work ethic, coach and support colleagues, and actively contribute to the development of a high-performing Compliance function within an evolving environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt complex regulatory messages for different audiences and influence positive action.
