About the role

An exciting opportunity to join Argenta’s specialist claim team, in a role focussed on Liability and FinPro classes of business. Reporting into the Chief Claims Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing a varied claims portfolio consisting of international (mainly US) Casualty, Professional Liability, D&O/Financial Lines, Marine and Energy Liability.

  • Responsibility for efficiently handling complex claims on a lead and agreement party basis, including where dispute resolution or litigation is involved.
  • Manage, mentor and develop team members, to aid their career development plans.
  • Proactively handle lead and agreement party claims from first advice to settlement to ensure delivery of Argenta’s claim commitment and achieve good outcomes.
  • Foster good relationships with policyholders, brokers, underwriters and reinsurers, and drive excellent customer service.
  • Ensure prompt and accurate reserving, identifying and pursuing relevant third party recoveries and salvage opportunities.
  • Prioritise where necessary, identifying deadlines, stipulated by lawsuits, demand letters and claims queries.
  • Actively participate in client meetings and market meetings, representing Argenta and delivering on the claims proposition.
  • Work closely with underwriters providing feedback on claims issues, trends and market intelligence.
  • Identify and report claims related issues to the Chief Claims Officer where necessary and provide support, as required.
  • Provide case specific direction, mentoring and developing team member(s).
  • Inspire and manage team members to have high levels of employee engagement and business outcomes by taking action that supports a high performance, equitable and inclusive culture.
  • Work with team members to proactively achieve the claims team strategic objectives, aligned to Argenta’s strategic vision.
  • Undertake any other related duties as may be reasonably required.

About you

  • A sound understanding of the Liability and/or FinPro insurance sector.
  • Experience in handling claims arising from relevant lines of business.
  • Previous experience of insurance products as either a senior claims handler or broker.
  • Strong understanding of relevant sector policy wordings.
  • Experience mentoring and/or managing team members.
  • Sound computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel and use of a London Market claims management system.
  • Excellent communication skills and capable of credibly speaking to clients, internal and external stakeholders and leading market meetings and settlement negotiations.
  • Positive and enthusiastic attitude.
  • CII qualified or equivalent professional qualification.
