Main purpose of the role: Assisting in the delivery of financial reporting for the Argent Group. As Senior Financial Accountant you will contribute to the preparation of all internal and external reporting; providing accurate financial data to assist the business in measuring achievement of its objectives. This role will have 1 direct report and will be involved in the leadership and development of this employee.
What you will be doing:
- Key lead in the Argent Group month end processes, identifying and delivering process improvements, ERP upgrades and module implementations.
- Perform and review balance sheet account reconciliations and analysis, including general ledger accounts and sub-ledger accounts.
- Preparation of statutory accounts, including notes and disclosures.
- Being a key point of contact to the external and internal auditors.
- Working with internal and external tax advisors to file corporation tax and VAT returns and preparation of reconciliations.
- Working closely with stakeholders to ensure accurate classification and reporting of Excise Duty to HMRC.
- Working closely with internal stakeholders to develop the use of automation tools to improve process and reporting efficiency and accuracy.
- Supporting sustainability reporting requirements for Group reporting requirements.

Skills and behaviours you will need to be successful:
- Understanding of latest accounting principles and financial reporting rules
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs with strong capabilities within Excel
- Previous use of ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle
- Can process and understand information in a logical way
- A continuous improvement mindset, identifying areas of improvement
- Highly organised with meticulous attention to detail
- A flexible team player with the ability to work proactively
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Analytical skills - comfortable working with large amounts of data from multiple sources.
- Ability to operate calmly under pressure.
Qualifications and experience required:
- Recognised accountancy qualification
- Previous experience in a similar role, contributing to month end close routines
- Experience gained in a medium to large organisation or shared service centre environment, preferably in a multi-site European structure.
- Experience of managing and developing junior employees (desirable)
