Main Responsibilities
We believe that the best approach to deterring criminal activity is to understand the vulnerabilities and risks of each location and to tailor our approach to effectively reduce them. As a Relief Security Officer, you will be required to provide a visible deterrent, respond to incidents, complete incident reports, and collaborate with local authorities. You will be expected to carry out all guarding responsibilities whilst in-store, including:
- Patrolling the shop floor and deterring criminal activity
- Assessing and identifying vulnerabilities, and working proactively to minimise risk
- Liaising with management and local authorities when applicable
- Managing vulnerable persons with empathy to avoid causing distress
- Completing colleague and contractor searches when required, in line with customer company policy
- Digitally reporting incidents and using tablets or phones for daily activity planning
- Producing detailed and legible incident reports to assist the client and local authorities
The Person
To be an effective Security Officer, you must be a confident communicator, capable of providing detailed verbal and written accounts of criminal activity or incidents. You will need to be welcoming and patient with customers and able to handle conflict in a calm and professional manner.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- You must hold a valid SIA licence to apply for this role.
- Previous experience in a retail security role is advantageous but not essential, as full training will be provided.
- You must be able to provide a full five-year checkable work or education history.
