The Opportunity
We are looking for a reliable, organised, and hands‑on Warehouse Operative to join our operations team, supporting the delivery of our integrated security technology solutions across the UK. This is a pivotal role at the heart of our logistics and engineering supply chain, ensuring that the right equipment reaches the right place at the right time. You will be responsible for the accurate receipt, storage, tracking, and issue of capital equipment and stock, working closely with our Engineering, Buying, Accounts, and Control Room teams. Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Goods Inward & Stock Management
- Receive goods from suppliers, check deliveries against purchase orders and book into the cash system accurately.
- Advise the buyer of any discrepancies identified on delivery notes or orders.
- Place goods into correct stock locations; attach relevant documentation to job‑specific items and store accordingly.
- Conduct regular monthly stock counts and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Notify relevant personnel upon arrival of goods and pass documentation to the buying department promptly.
- Trade Counter & Engineering Support
- Attend to UK‑based engineers at the trade counter, issuing requested equipment efficiently and professionally.
- Ensure all equipment issued is correctly booked to jobs or van stocks on the system.
- Assist with the loading and unloading of company vehicles where required.
- Returns, Quarantine & Asset Tracking
- Process equipment returned from site following hire termination, ensuring correct documentation is in place and booking items back into stock on the system.
- Place faulty or suspect equipment into the quarantine area for testing or write‑off, in line with company procedures.
- Track and record capital equipment deployed to sites across the country; ensure IP addresses are updated when equipment is relocated.
- Internal Liaison & Query Resolution
- Liaise with the accounts department to resolve queries relating to missing equipment or decommissioned sites; work with engineers to investigate and close out issues.
- Liaise with the control room regarding IP address queries as required.
- Carry out ad‑hoc duties relating to solving stock queries and operational problems as they arise.
- Liaison with Engineering Department
- Maintain day‑to‑day communication with the Engineering department, issuing requested stock to support the building and assembly of new capital equipment.
- Ensure all equipment issued is correctly identified and allocated to the correct build.
- Ensure job sheets are completed for all new build equipment and passed to the company buyer.
- Warehouse Operations & Health & Safety
- Ensure the safe movement of heavy equipment both within the stores premises and in external compounds at all times.
- Operate a forklift truck for the safe movement and storage of goods (licence required).
- Maintain internal and external building areas in a clean and tidy condition in line with health & safety requirements.
- Ensure the stores area is secure at all times and that the building is properly secured before leaving.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience in a warehouse, stores, or logistics environment.
- Experience booking goods in/out using a stock management or ERP/cash system.
- Ability to carry out physical stock counting and reconciliation to a high degree of accuracy.
- Valid forklift truck licence (counterbalance or reach truck).
- Valid and clean UK driving licence.
- Strong communication skills – comfortable liaising with engineers, buyers, accounts, and management.
- Organised, self‑motivated, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Reliable, with a strong work ethic and effective time management skills.
- Ability to demonstrate good judgement and make rational decisions under time pressure.
Desirable / Advantageous
- Experience in a technical or security technology environment (CCTV, access control, intruder alarm equipment).
- Understanding of IP addresses or networking fundamentals (training provided).
- Familiarity with health & safety requirements in a warehouse/stores setting.
- Experience managing vehicle stock controls or engineering parts inventories.
