Site Security Officer – Distribution Centre, Barnstaple

About the Role
As Site Security Officer, you will be the trusted face of security on site, ensuring a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for staff, visitors, and contractors.
You will work closely with the client and your ASEL colleagues to maintain high standards of service at all times.
- Working hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 17:00
- What You Will Be Doing
- Access Control and Gatehouse Duties
- Manage the gatehouse and reception, providing a professional and welcoming first point of contact for everyone entering the site
- Verify and authorise visitors, contractors, and staff in line with site procedures
- Identify and report any potential security concerns promptly
- Site Patrols and Security Operations
- Carry out regular internal and external patrols to deter criminal activity and maintain a visible security presence
- Follow all site security procedures consistently and professionally
- Support loss prevention activity, including colleague and contractor searches where required by client policy
- Incident Reporting and Investigation Support
- Accurately record incidents using digital reporting systems
- Produce clear, well written incident reports
- Review CCTV footage as directed to support investigations
- Liaise with local authorities where necessary
- Compliance and Safety
- Follow all Health and Safety procedures at all times
- Uphold ASEL policies including our Equality and Diversity standards
- Support audits and inspections as required
- What We Are Looking For
Essential
- Valid SIA Licence
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
- A professional, calm, and confident approach
- Good problem solving and conflict management skills
- Ability to produce clear and accurate written reports
Desirable
- Experience in a gatehouse or distribution site environment
- Familiarity with CCTV systems and digital incident reporting tools
- Experience working within a client facing security role
- Additional Requirements
- Able to provide a full five year checkable employment or education history
- Right to Work documentation and recent proof of address required at interview stage
