Site Manager in Barnstaple

We are currently recruiting for a Site Security Manager to lead the delivery of security operations at a major distribution facility in Barnstaple.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day to day management of the security operation on site, ensuring a professional and compliant security service is delivered at all times. This includes supervising on site security personnel, managing shift rotas, maintaining strong client relationships, and ensuring all security procedures are followed effectively.

The Site Security Manager will play a critical role in maintaining a safe and secure environment, protecting people, assets, and property while ensuring operational standards are consistently met.

This role requires a confident leader with strong communication skills who can manage a team, respond effectively to incidents, and work closely with both the client and internal management teams.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Security Management

• Oversee the day to day security operation at the distribution site, ensuring all security procedures and policies are followed
• Maintain a visible management presence across the site to support officers and ensure service standards are upheld
• Ensure all site security activities are carried out professionally and in accordance with client requirements
• Conduct internal and external site patrols to deter criminal activity and maintain site security
• Working hours and shifts: Mon to Fri 08:00 to 17:00

Team Leadership and Supervision

• Supervise and support the on site security team to ensure consistent operational performance
• Assist with staff rota management and ensure appropriate shift coverage at all times
• Provide guidance, coaching, and support to team members to maintain high standards of performance
• Ensure officers maintain professionalism when dealing with colleagues, visitors, and contractors

Access Control and Gatehouse Management

• Oversee access control procedures including gatehouse and reception operations
• Ensure visitors, contractors, and staff are properly verified and authorised before entering the site
• Provide a professional and welcoming point of contact for all individuals entering the premises
• Identify and escalation potential security threats appropriately

Loss Prevention and Investigation Support

• Support the client in loss prevention activities and investigations relating to stock loss or security incidents
• Conduct colleague and contractor searches in accordance with client policy where required
• Review CCTV recordings as part of investigations and provide supporting information to management
• Liaise with local authorities where necessary in response to incidents

Incident Management and Reporting

• Ensure all incidents are accurately recorded using digital reporting systems
• Produce clear and detailed written incident reports to support internal investigation or external authority involvement
• Ensure all incidents are escalated appropriately and handled in accordance with company procedures
• Maintain accurate daily activity reports and operational records

Compliance and Safety

• Ensure all site security operations comply with company policies and client requirements
• Adhere to all Health and Safety procedures and ensure team members operate safely at all times
• Maintain compliance with company policies including Equality and Diversity standards
• Support audits, inspections, and compliance reviews where required

Skills and Experience

Essential

• Valid SIA Licence
• Previous experience within a security supervisory or security management role
• Strong leadership and team management capability
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to produce clear and accurate incident reports
• Strong conflict management and problem solving skills
• Professional approach with the ability to remain calm under pressure

Desirable

• Previous experience within a gatehouse or distribution site security environment
• Experience using CCTV systems and digital incident reporting tools
• Experience working closely with clients and managing site based security operations

Additional Requirements

• Applicants must be able to provide a full 5 year checkable employment or education history
• Successful candidates will be required to provide Right to Work documentation and recent proof of address at interview stage
