A growing medical device manufacturer is seeking a Design Engineer to join its expanding R&D team. The organisation designs and manufactures specialist clinical equipment used across healthcare environments globally and is recognised for delivering high-quality, innovative products that improve patient care.

This role will play a key part in developing new products, enhancing existing designs, and supporting the full engineering lifecycle within a regulated medical device environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop new product designs and support improvements to existing product lines
  • Create and maintain 3D CAD models and engineering documentation
  • Produce Bills of Materials (BOMs) and assembly documentation
  • Develop and implement verification and validation (V&V) test plans
  • Support the creation of Instructions for Use (IFU) and service manuals
  • Lead and contribute to key technical documentation including risk management and FMEA
  • Work closely with prototyping teams to support development builds
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, purchasing, and quality teams during new product introduction (NPI)
  • Manage engineering change notices and product updates
RequirementsEssential
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, regulatory, quality, and commercial teams
  • Solid mechanical engineering foundation (degree preferred) with exposure to electronics/software integration
  • Experience contributing to or managing multiple engineering projects simultaneously
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software
Desirable
  • Experience within medical device development or regulated product design
  • Experience using Autodesk Inventor
  • Familiarity with relevant standards such as ISO 13485 and ISO 14971
  • Exposure to IEC medical device standards including 60601 series, 62304, and 62366-1
  • Understanding of welding techniques and their impact on mechanical design
  • Experience conducting in-house product testing
  • Familiarity with MRP systems and maintaining Bills of Materials
