Location: Thames Valley / Home Counties / South East (Hybrid)
Salary: Highly Competitive
About the Opportunity:
Are you an established Senior Private Client specialist or current Partner looking for an autonomous leadership role within a collegiate, high-calibre practice?
We are representing an award-winning law firm seeking an accomplished Senior Associate or Partner to take the reins of an established, thriving Private Client department.
You will step directly into an active, high-quality caseload advising high-net-worth (HNW) families, entrepreneurs, and established estates, with immediate scope to help steer the department's strategic growth. For ambitious Senior Associates, this role offers a clear and structured pathway to Partnership; for established Partners, it presents a supportive, non-bureaucratic platform to expand your profile and lead a collaborative team.
Crucially: An existing client following is welcomed, but NOT essential. The department already has strong workflow pipelines and established referrer networks ready to inherit.
Key Responsibilities:
- Complex Caseload Leadership: Direct oversight and execution of high-value matters, including:
- High-net-worth Wills & succession strategies
- Complex inheritance tax (IHT) mitigation and wealth preservation
- Trust creation, restructuring, and ongoing administration
- Court of Protection applications and Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs)
- Team & Practice Management: Mentor and support junior solicitors and fee earners, fostering best practice and knowledge-sharing.
- Strategic Growth: Work closely with the leadership team to cultivate existing referral channels, develop client relationships, and enhance the firm's private wealth footprint.
About You:
- Experience: Qualified Solicitor or CILEX with 7+ years’ PQE in Private Client law (strong candidates with 5+ years PQE operating at Senior Associate level with a clear leadership trajectory will also be considered).
- Technical Rigour: Deep expertise across taxable estates, complex trusts, and lifetime estate planning for HNW clients.
- Qualifications: Full STEP qualification (TEP) or current study towards it is highly advantageous, though strong technical track records will be equally valued.
- Commercial Mindset: Proven ability to manage a profitable caseload, mentor colleagues, and act as an ambassador for the firm.
What’s on Offer:
- Remuneration: Substantial, above-market basic salary tailored to seniority and track record, plus a rewarding, transparent bonus structure.
- Partnership Potential: Immediate Partner status for established applicants, or an agreed, transparent route to Equity/Salaried Partnership for Senior Associates.
- Modern Working: Genuine hybrid model (balanced office and remote working) designed to respect work-life balance.
- Culture: A collegiate, friendly working environment free from unnecessary corporate red tape.
- Comprehensive Benefits: Private healthcare, enhanced pension contribution, life assurance, generous annual leave, and on-site/free parking options.
(All enquiries and applications are treated with strict confidentiality. No details or CVs are released to any client without your express prior consent.)
