Senior Associate / Future Head of Private Wealth
Location: Greater London / Northern Home Counties (Hybrid)
Remuneration: Highly Competitive Base + Discretionary Bonus + Comprehensive Benefits
The Opportunity:
Are you an experienced Private Client specialist hitting a glass ceiling, looking for a clear, unobstructed route to lead your own department?
A modern, progressive regional practice with an enviable client base of entrepreneurs, business leaders, and high-net-worth families is seeking a Senior Private Wealth Solicitor (6+ years PQE) to step into a succession-track role.
This position has been created strategically: you will take ownership of a premium private client caseload while working in tandem with the firm's leadership to transition into the Head of Department. For a practitioner who wants autonomy, strategic input, and a culture that values innovation over rigid bureaucracy, this is a rare platform.
Practice Focus:
- Wealth Preservation & Succession: Structuring bespoke succession plans for business founders, corporate directors, and multigenerational family estates.
- Complex Trust Structuring: Creation, restructuring, governance, and lifetime distribution strategies.
- High-Value Estate Administration: Managing probate from inception through distribution on substantial, taxable estates involving business property relief (BPR) and agricultural assets.
- Advanced Lifetime Planning: Drafting complex wills, lasting powers of attorney, and wealth protection instruments.
- Practice Leadership: Shaping departmental standards, mentoring junior colleagues, and helping expand client and intermediary referral networks.
Candidate Profile:
- Experience: Qualified Solicitor with at least 6 years' PQE dedicated exclusively to Private Client work.
- Technical Calibre: A strong grasp of inheritance tax thresholds, trusts, and business succession; comfortable advising commercial and HNW clients on delicate personal matters.
- Credentials: STEP qualification (TEP) is highly regarded, or a demonstrable commitment to working toward it.
- Mindset: Commercially astute, proactive, and genuinely excited by the prospect of department leadership rather than remaining an anonymous fee earner.
What the Practice Offers:
- Leadership Trajectory: A transparent timeline and structured mentorship to take the helm of the department.
- Modern Culture: Collaborative, forward-thinking environment with genuine respect for work-life integration (flexible/hybrid working models).
- Financial Reward: Highly competitive salary reflective of seniority, paired with an attractive performance incentive.
- Complete Autonomy: Freedom to manage client relationships your way, supported by dedicated paralegal and administrative resource.
