We are supporting a key UK Government programme seeking an experienced Lead Scala Developer (Consultant level) to join an established delivery team. This role will play a critical part in leading development efforts, driving best practices, and delivering high-quality solutions within a highly governed environment. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a high-impact public sector initiative with strong potential for extension.
Key Requirements
- Proven experience as a Lead Developer / Tech Lead
- Strong hands-on expertise in Scala development
- Prior experience working within UK Government environments
- Strong understanding and practical application of Test-Driven Development (TDD)
- Ability to lead engineering teams and set technical direction
- Experience working in highly regulated or governed environments
- Available to start and interview at short notice
- Comfortable working remotely with occasional travel to Newcastle
Technical Skills
- Experience with the following is highly desirable:
- Advanced Scala development in enterprise environments
- Test automation frameworks aligned to TDD practices
- Scalable system design and backend architecture
- CI/CD and modern development workflows
- Experience operating within secure, compliance-driven systems
