A leading public sector organisation is seeking a Technical Architect with a strong development background to support the delivery of modern, cloud-based digital services. You will provide technical leadership across the full project lifecycle, working closely with engineering teams and stakeholders to design scalable, high-quality solutions aligned to established standards.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical leadership across design and delivery phases
- Produce high-quality architecture documentation (e.g. sequence diagrams, API specifications)
- Design and architect microservices-based solutions
- Collaborate with wider architecture teams to ensure alignment with standards and best practices
- Support the definition of non-functional requirements (e.g. scalability, performance, security)
- Contribute to engineering communities and continuous improvement initiatives
- Proven experience as a Technical Architect with a development background
- Strong experience with Scala and microservices architecture (ideally Play Framework)
- Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
- Strong understanding of API design and system integration
- Ability to work across technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Must have prior experience working within a UK government department or public sector organisation
- BPSS clearance required (or eligible)
- Initial 3-month contract starting ASAP
- Travel to Leeds once per month (2 days, back-to-back)
