Are you an experienced Tech Lead or Software Engineering Manager who still enjoys being close to the code? Looking for a role where you can lead a team, shape technical direction, and stay hands-on in building scalable, high-impact systems?

We're partnering with a high-growth, product-led tech business operating in a complex, data-driven environment. They're expanding their engineering teams and hiring multiple Tech Leads / Engineering Managers to play a key role in their next phase of growth. This is a fully remote UK opportunity offering real ownership across people, platform, and architecture.

  • Operating in a hands-on leadership role (circa 60–70% coding)
  • Owning the technical direction of API-first platforms
  • Driving the evolution from legacy systems to modern, scalable architecture
  • Ensuring high standards across code quality, testing, and delivery
  • Acting as the technical authority and escalation point within your team
  • Collaborating closely with Product and QA to deliver robust solutions
  • Mentoring, coaching, and supporting engineers in their career development
  • Contributing to hiring, team growth, and building a strong engineering culture

Tech environment:

  • Backend: PHP (Symfony), Go (Golang)
  • Frontend: Vue.js
  • Database: MySQL
  • Cloud & Infrastructure: AWS, Kubernetes
  • CI/CD: GitHub Actions

You'll be working on high-scale systems, processing thousands of requests per minute, with a strong focus on performance, reliability, and scalability.

What we're looking for:

  • Experience as a Tech Lead, Engineering Manager, or Senior Engineer stepping up
  • Strong background in API-driven / backend systems
  • Proven ability to lead teams while remaining hands-on
  • Solid understanding of scalable architecture and system design
  • Experience working across full-stack production environments
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative leadership style
  • A pragmatic approach—balancing delivery, quality, and long-term scalability

Nice to have:

  • Experience modernising or migrating legacy platforms
  • Exposure to high-throughput, data-intensive systems
  • Cloud-native / Kubernetes experience
  • Experience in complex or regulated domains

What's on offer:

  • Up to £85,000 salary
  • Fully remote working across the UK
  • 25+ days holiday + bank holidays (increasing with service)
  • Birthday off + additional wellbeing leave
  • Private medical insurance & wellbeing support
  • Pension & referral bonus scheme
  • Ongoing learning & development opportunities
  • A collaborative environment where you can influence both people and technology
