Are you an experienced Tech Lead or Senior Software Engineer who enjoys staying close to the code while leading a high-performing team? We're partnering with a market-leading, product-led technology business that's transforming a sector where technology genuinely improves people's lives. As they continue to scale, they're looking for an experienced Tech Lead – Integrations to take ownership of a critical platform responsible for synchronising data across core products and third-party integrations.

This is a genuine 70% hands-on engineering / 30% leadership role where you'll shape technical direction, mentor engineers, and build scalable, high-performance integration services used at significant scale.

What you'll be doing:

  • Leading a small team of approximately four engineers
  • Remaining hands-on with development (around 70% coding)
  • Owning the technical direction and architecture of the integrations platform
  • Designing and building scalable API-driven backend services
  • Making pragmatic architectural decisions around scalability, reliability and maintainability
  • Driving engineering best practices through code reviews, testing and automation
  • Acting as the technical escalation point within the squad
  • Working closely with Product and QA to deliver high-quality software
  • Coaching, mentoring and developing engineers
  • Supporting hiring, onboarding and the continued growth of the engineering team

Backend: PHP (Symfony), Python
Frontend: Vue.js (headless integrations)
CI/CD: GitHub Actions

You'll be working on large-scale distributed systems handling thousands of requests per minute, integrating multiple platforms and managing datasets containing hundreds of millions of records, with performance, resilience and scalability at the heart of everything.

What we're looking for:

  • Experience as a Tech Lead, Senior Software Engineer or similar technical leadership role
  • Strong experience building API-driven backend systems
  • Passion for remaining hands-on whilst leading a team
  • Excellent understanding of scalable architecture and object-oriented design
  • Experience working across production full-stack applications
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • A collaborative, pragmatic engineering mindset focused on delivering quality software

Nice to have:

  • Experience working with high-throughput or data-intensive platforms
  • Kubernetes and cloud-native architecture experience
  • Exposure to integration platforms or distributed systems
  • Experience working within complex or regulated industries
