We are seeking an experienced and strategically minded PMO Lead to establish, lead, and evolve a high-performing Project Management Office. This individual will act as the face of the PMO, driving governance, delivery excellence, reporting standards, and strategic alignment across the organization. The role requires a strong specialist PMO skill set, advanced data reporting capability, and hands-on expertise with modern PPM and collaboration tooling. The successful candidate will also play a key role in helping shape and implement the organisation’s AI strategy, including emerging technologies such as agentic AI.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and mature PMO frameworks, standards, and governance models.
- Define and implement portfolio management best practices.
- Oversee project intake, prioritisation, and resource planning.
- Ensure consistent reporting, risk management, and benefits realisation across the portfolio.
- Act as the executive-facing representative of the PMO.
- Design and deliver high-quality executive dashboards and reporting.
- Leverage PPM tooling and data analytics to drive insight-led decision-making.
- Own and optimise usage of tools such as JIRA, Confluence, and other PPM/portfolio reporting tools.
- Establish data standards to ensure accuracy, transparency, and governance.
- Partner with senior leadership to help define and implement an organisational AI strategy.
- Identify opportunities to leverage AI within project delivery, reporting, and governance.
- Explore emerging technologies including agentic AI to enhance PMO efficiency and automation.
- Ensure responsible and effective AI adoption within programme environments.
Stakeholder & Executive Engagement
- Act as a senior stakeholder interface across business and technology teams.
- Demonstrate strong negotiation skills in prioritisation, funding discussions, and delivery trade-offs.
- Influence at executive level with clarity, credibility, and confidence.
- Build trusted relationships across complex organisational environments.
Required Skills & Experience
- Significant experience leading or operating within a mature PMO environment.
- Specialist PMO expertise across governance, portfolio management, and delivery frameworks.
- Advanced data reporting and dashboarding capability.
- Strong hands-on experience with JIRA and Confluence.
- Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
- Proven ability to represent PMO functions at senior/executive level.
- Strong commercial and strategic awareness.
- Technically astute with the ability to engage effectively with engineering and architecture teams.
- Experience contributing to or leading AI strategy initiatives.
- Exposure to agentic AI or intelligent automation in enterprise environments.
- Experience in digital transformation or large-scale change programmes.
