People Operations Manager

This isn't a traditional HR role. This is a People Operations role responsible for creating a fantastic employee experience, supporting managers, maintaining compliance, and ensuring the business remains a great place to work.

What Will You Actually Be Doing?
1. Looking After New Starters
You'll be responsible for making sure every new employee has an excellent onboarding experience and feels welcomed from day one. This includes:
- Managing onboarding processes.
- Preparing contracts and documentation.
- Coordinating equipment and access.
- Supporting employees during their first few months.
- Ensuring a positive employee experience from day one.
2. Being the Go-To Person for Employees
You'll be the first point of contact for all people-related questions and support. This means helping employees with:
- Holidays and leave.
- Benefits and allowances.
- Policies and procedures.
- Payroll-related queries.
- Workplace concerns.
- General HR support.
3. Keeping the HR Engine Running
You'll own the day-to-day HR administration that keeps the business operating smoothly. This includes:
- Managing employee records.
- Processing contract changes.
- Supporting payroll activities.
- Managing leave and sickness administration.
- Maintaining HR systems and data.
4. Ensuring Compliance
A key part of the role is making sure people processes are legally compliant and properly managed. You'll help ensure:
- Employment policies are up to date.
- Employee documentation is accurate.
- HR practices follow relevant legislation.
- Data is managed securely and appropriately.
- The business remains protected from unnecessary risk.
5. Supporting Managers
Managers will rely on you for guidance and support when dealing with people matters. You'll advise on:
- Employee performance.
- Development planning.
- Difficult conversations.
- Workplace challenges.
- Conflict resolution.
- Employee wellbeing.
6. Driving Employee Experience & Culture
This is where People Operations differs from traditional HR. You'll play a central role in creating a positive, engaging and inclusive workplace. This includes:
- Organising company events.
- Supporting employee wellbeing initiatives.
- Running engagement activities.
- Improving internal communications.
- Encouraging collaboration and team spirit.
- Contributing to a positive workplace culture.
7. Supporting Growth & Development
You'll help employees develop and grow throughout their careers. This could include:
- Performance review cycles.
- Career development discussions.
- Learning and development initiatives.
- Feedback processes.
- Performance improvement support.
8. Managing People Challenges
Not every day is about celebrations and team events. You'll also help support:
- Employee relations matters.
- Workplace disputes.
- Absence management.
- Long-term sickness cases.
- Resignations and offboarding.
- Sensitive people-related situations.
What Does a Typical Week Look Like?
You might spend your week:
- Onboarding a new employee.
- Supporting a manager with a performance issue.
- Organising a team event.
- Answering employee HR queries.
- Managing HR records and systems.
- Reviewing employee engagement initiatives.
- Updating policies and procedures.
- Supporting salary review processes.
- Running development conversations.
- Managing absence and leave requests.
