Overview
We're looking for a Senior / Lead Scala Developer to join a public sector programme on a 3-month contract, starting as soon as possible. This is a hands-on technical role for someone equally comfortable writing high-quality, test-driven code and providing technical leadership across a delivery team.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain robust Scala applications following Test-Driven Development (TDD) practices
- Set and uphold engineering standards across the team, mentoring and guiding other developers where required
- Work closely with stakeholders, translating technical concepts for non-technical audiences and managing expectations across the project
- Contribute to architectural decisions and technical direction within a public sector delivery environment
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Senior or Lead-level Scala Developer
- Strong background in TDD and disciplined engineering practices
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Demonstrated ability to set technical standards and lead/mentor other developers
- Comfortable operating in fast-paced, short-notice engagements
- Must be eligible for BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) clearance
Desirable
- Previous experience working within government or public sector environments
Availability
Candidates must be available to interview at short notice and start the contract immediately upon offer.
