I'm currently recruiting for a Lead Developer to join an exciting public sector programme.
Location: Remote, with 2 days/month in Newcastle
We're looking for an experienced Scala Lead Developer who can provide hands-on technical leadership while helping design and deliver full-stack solutions across front-end and back-end layers.
What you'll be doing:
- Leading the design and implementation of Scala-based solutions
- Providing technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to developers
- Building and maintaining microservices using Play Framework
- Driving architectural discussions and technical decisions
- Championing best practices around code quality, testing and deployment
- Collaborating with DevOps, QA and wider stakeholders
- Working across large codebases and influencing technical direction
Key experience:
- Strong Scala & functional programming experience
- Proven Lead Developer / technical leadership experience
- Experience influencing architectural decisions
- CI/CD, Git and modern development tooling
- MacOS or Linux experience
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
