Senior Infrastructure Engineer — M&A Integration

Central London | Outside IR35 | £550–£650 per day | Initial 3-month contract

The opportunity

An ambitious, acquisitive business is scaling fast — multiple deals in progress, new sites landing regularly, and a growing footprint that needs infrastructure to match. They're bringing in a senior contractor to own the technical side of that growth: making sure every acquisition integrates cleanly, every site comes online securely, and the core estate stays stable while everything around it changes. This isn't a maintenance role. You'll be hands‑on with live integrations from day one, working at pace across networks, cloud platforms and directory services while the business continues to acquire.

What the role involves

  • Owning IT due diligence, assessment and integration for incoming acquisitions — from first audit through to full consolidation
  • Running network operations across sites: LAN/WAN design, VPN connectivity, IP schema management and firewall administration (Palo Alto)
  • Auditing cloud estates (AWS and Azure) and core business applications (ERP, CRM) as part of the integration process
  • Delivering migrations — including cross‑tenant Google Workspace moves and directory consolidation across acquired entities
  • Partnering with external MSPs and the internal team to keep uptime, security posture and compliance on track throughout
  • Owning monitoring, incident response and disaster recovery planning so acquisitions don't introduce risk
  • Acting as the senior technical escalation point, guiding less experienced engineers through complex problems

What you bring

  • Deep hands‑on experience with AWS, Google Workspace, and hybrid infrastructure spanning Linux and Windows Server
  • Strong core networking — TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing/switching, VPNs and firewall config; CCNA or CCNP a plus
  • Confidence managing identity and directory services through multi‑domain consolidations
  • Automation skills in Python and/or Bash, plus Infrastructure as Code experience (Terraform or CloudFormation)
  • A track record with enterprise systems (ERP/CRM) and, ideally, prior exposure to M&A-driven IT integration
  • Working knowledge of GDPR and ISO 27001 requirements in a live compliance environment
  • Exposure to monitoring platforms (Datadog, CloudWatch) and coordination with a SOC function
