Areti are delighted to be supporting a rapidly expanding technology business in their search for a DevOps / Network Automation Consultant to join their high-performing UK Professional Services team. This award-winning organisation partners with global enterprises to deliver automation-led transformation across networking, cloud, and infrastructure. As part of their continued UK and European growth, they are seeking a consultant who combines strong technical fundamentals with excellent customer engagement skills.

The Role

Sitting within Professional Services (not operational support), you’ll design, build, and deliver automation solutions that modernise and streamline customer network environments. You’ll work closely with enterprise clients, typically engaging with them weekly and attending their sites 1–2 times per quarter. Travel, food, and accommodation are fully covered. This is a remote role, with occasional travel to the Reading office once per month (travel and food paid by the business).

Whether you’re a Network Engineer or NOC Engineer who has stepped into automation, or an Automation/DevOps Engineer whose skills have evolved into network automation - if you can configure networks and understand how automation enhances them, you’ll fit right in!

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement automated network solutions across large-scale customer environments.
  • Use Python, Ansible, and Terraform to build repeatable, reliable automation workflows.
  • Apply strong networking fundamentals to support configuration, optimisation, and troubleshooting.
  • Lead customer-facing workshops, discovery sessions, and technical design discussions.
  • Integrate APIs and automation tooling to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Support cloud-aware network automation solutions, working with modern DevOps tooling and practices.
  • Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and business stakeholders to drive innovation and best practice.

About You

You’re technical, curious, and customer focused. You enjoy solving problems, improving processes, and creating automation that makes networks more reliable and scalable. This role is as much about your personality and communication as it is about your engineering skillset. You enjoy engaging with customers, shaping outcomes, and delivering solutions that make a real impact.

Key Experience (Required)

  • You must have experience with the following four core technologies:
  • Networking fundamentals (routing, switching, firewalls, OSI model, IP services)
  • Python (object-oriented) for automation scripts
  • Ansible
  • Terraform

Plus:

  • Background in either Networking/NOC Engineering (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls) or a solid Automation/DevOps foundation transitioning into Network Automation.
  • Ability to configure networks confidently.
  • Strong understanding of networking principles and troubleshooting.

Desirable Experience

  • Network Automation experience, including:
  • Networking Automation Platforms: Netbox, IP Fabric, Slurpit, Itential, Apstra.
  • Vendor-specific automation frameworks: Juniper, Nokia, Arista.
  • CI/CD tooling (GitHub/GitLab).
  • REST / NETCONF / gRPC–based API integrations.
  • Docker/Kubernetes experience.
  • Exposure to enterprise automation tooling or orchestration platforms.
  • Scrum/Agile experience.

This is an opportunity to develop your automation expertise, lead meaningful engagements, and help shape modern network transformation across enterprise customers.
