What you'll be doing
- Working test-first, using TDD and automated testing frameworks
- Building and testing integrations and interfaces between systems
- Turning business requirements and user stories into technical solutions
- Leading and mentoring software engineers within an Agile team
- Working with senior stakeholders to agree technical direction
What you'll bring (essential)
- Proven experience delivering on UK government or public sector projects, for example central government departments, the NHS or arm's-length bodies
- TDD and automated testing
- Git or another distributed version control system
- Development experience in cloud-based environments
- Experience leading or mentoring engineers in Agile, multi-disciplinary teams
Nice to have
- Experience with the GOV.UK Design System or GDS Service Standard
- REST APIs (public-facing and internal) and microservices
- Picking up, maintaining and improving codebases written by other engineers
- A focus on stability, resilience and maintainability
- Jira, Confluence and Slack
