As Offshore Geotechnical Engineer you will be responsible for planning, executing, and interpreting geotechnical investigations to support the design and installation of offshore structures, including wind turbine foundations, oil & gas platforms, subsea pipelines, and seabed installations. The role involves interpretation, data analysis, and foundation design/installation recommendations while ensuring compliance with industry standards and project requirements.
Responsibilities- Plan offshore site investigations by defining scopes of work and selecting appropriate sampling/testing methods (e.g., CPT, boreholes).
- Analyse soil data to interpret lab results and derive geotechnical parameters like shear strength and stiffness.
- Prepare Technical Reports, compile Geotechnical Interpretive Reports (GIRs) and Foundation Design Reports (FDRs).
- Support foundation design by providing input for piles, suction caissons and shallow foundations.
- Perform Pile Analysis, calculate axial/lateral capacities and assess installation feasibility.
- Assist Engineering Phases, contribute to FEED and detailed design stages with geotechnical expertise.
- Ensure standards compliance following ISO, API, DNV codes and client specifications.
- Manage Geotechnical Risks, participate in HAZID/HAZOP and review third‑party deliverables.
- Uphold Safety & Quality, align with Saipem’s HSEQ policies and maintain personal and team safety.
- Coordinate & collaborate with engineering teams and report findings to stakeholders.
- Experience: 5-10 years in offshore geotechnical roles with pile & foundations design and installation activities.
- Education: Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil/Structural Engineering or similar.
- Technical skills: Geotechnical data interpretation, shallow foundations, pile design/installation, soil‑structure interaction.
- IT skills: GRLWEAP, Finite Element Analysis software (PLAXIS or ABAQUS).
- Contractor role, full‑time.
- Location: Kingston upon Thames office.
- Start date: as soon as a successful candidate is identified.
