We have a new requirement for a Lead ROV Maintenance Mechanical/Hydraulic Technician (Offshore) within our Bridge of Don, Aberdeen Office. Please note: All applicants must reside in the UK and possess full, permanent UK right-to-work status, as Saipem is unable to offer sponsorships.

Start Date: To be agreed with the successful candidate; with a preference for an immediate start.

Salary/Rate: Please provide individual rate expectation.

To provide Mechanical/Hydraulic technical support during ROV maintenance periods offshore or at quayside. To supervise a team of other ROV Maintenance technicians. In addition to provide mechanical/hydraulic support for all workshop activities related to the maintenance and upgrade of ROV system equipment at Aberdeen, Trieste or other Saipem workshops.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Carry out mechanical/hydraulic maintenance during ROV maintenance periods offshore and at quayside on Saipem ROV and Equipment systems (ROV, TMS, Winch, HPU, A-frame, etc.) in accordance with company procedures and under the direction of the ROV Technical manager.
  • Supervise other mechanical/hydraulic and electrical ROV maintenance technicians.
  • Be available to mobilize at short notice to assist offshore ROV crews with mechanical/hydraulic technical support or fault finding when necessary.
  • Strip down, reinstate and test ROV System mechanical/hydraulic components offshore, e.g., ROV/TMS Mechanical/hydraulic systems, Winches, and A-Frames HPUs, etc.
  • Assist with commissioning of ROV system and equipment when mobilized to vessel.
  • Carry out site assessments of ROV System and equipment recommending short term and long-term maintenance actions.
  • Conduct ROV audits and site inspections, reviewing the general condition of the system and ensuring that all Safety & Quality processes are in place.
  • Assist at all Saipem workshops in all maintenance and repair activities as required to maintain the Company's assets in full operational mode.
  • Conduct refurbishment, maintenance, and repairs on all relevant equipment in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and guidelines.
  • Become familiar with and maintain awareness of Saipem's current requirements/procedures/policies and where applicable, the latest Industry Codes and Standards including statutory rules and regulations.
  • Ensure that all activities are carried out in a manner consistent with Saipem's policy on health, safety, quality and environmental matters in accordance with Saipem specific procedures.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • ONC level or Industry education and/or training in Engineering, Mechanical/Hydraulic disciplines and time-served.
  • Good general Mechanical/Hydraulic background.
  • Experience of supervising offshore ROV technicians.
  • Previous Experience as a ROV Pilot Tech and/or ROV Workshop Technician.
  • Good experience with maintenance and upgrade processes related to ROV systems and equipment.
  • Good experience and ability to operate and fault find ROV systems and equipment.
  • Full Offshore Medical and Survival certification.

  • Flexibility to travel as required, both within the UK and overseas, to meet the needs of the role.
  • Training specific to Saipem procedures will be provided.
  • Please note that pre and post-employment medical assessments will be required and included as part of the Offer of Employment for all workshop personnel.
