Job Overview

We’re looking for a Systems Engineer with a passion for technology and asset management to join our Engineering Team.

You’ll be building the systems through which our firm-wide investment process runs.

This role is ideally suited to an individual who wants to be involved in a tech-focused firm and brings systems experience as well as coding expertise in Rust and/or Python.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end systems deliveries to scale the firm across various business lines.
  • Build core services upon which Ares Systematic Credit investment process runs, covering reference data, trade management, position management and compliance.
  • Integrate core services with external parties such as middle office and fund administrators.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the firm, including Portfolio Management, Operations and Compliance, and within the Systems, Quantitative and Platform Infrastructure Engineering team; strong stakeholder management skills are essential.
  • Utilise and contribute to the Ares Systematic Credit software development toolkit, including source code control, CI/CD platform, test infrastructure, packaging, and deployment.
  • Build common libraries and software infrastructure to support the above activities.
  • Review and test code and systems to the standards defined in the Ares Systematic Credit software development process.
  • Support production systems.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills and desire to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to learn and develop expertise in new technologies and fixed income (if no prior exposure).
  • Experience writing high-quality Python code.
  • Experience or strong interest in C++ and/or Rust.
  • Understanding of the importance of testing.
  • Strong stakeholder management and business analysis skills.
  • Ability to parse problems and present solutions.
  • Ownership for the code you write.
  • Optional: Server-side development experience.
  • Optional: Experience with the fixed income asset class (credit, interest rates, bonds, CDS, and related derivatives).
  • Optional: Experience working with SQL databases.
  • Optional: Experience designing APIs.
  • Optional: Experience with Rust.
  • Optional: Experience with Kubernetes.
