A Senior Infrastructure Engineer at Arenko is a technical role responsible for designing and building new AWS infrastructure alongside the software teams and maintaining the operational excellence of our existing infrastructure on the AWS platform. The role involves day to day management of our AWS infrastructure, supporting and collaborating with software development teams, considering costs and implementing long term strategic projects to ensure our platform fits Arenko’s future needs.

  • Infrastructure Design and Implementation: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design scalable and cost-effective AWS cloud architectures. Implement infrastructure solutions using AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, ECS, Lambda, etc. Take the lead on key projects, helping to define the appropriate architecture and deliver within timelines and cost constraints.
  • Automation and Orchestration: Utilise Terraform to automate the provisioning, deployment, and management of infrastructure resources. Implement continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to automate infrastructure deployments. Streamline operational tasks through scripting and automation, enhancing efficiency and reliability. Play a role in defining best practice, tooling and ways of working to ensure that we continuously improve.
  • Monitoring and Optimization: Monitor AWS infrastructure performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement optimizations for cost and performance. Implement logging, monitoring, and alerting solutions using AWS CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, and other monitoring tools. Conduct periodic reviews of infrastructure to identify opportunities for optimization and cost reduction.
  • Security and Compliance: Implement security best practices and compliance standards in AWS environments. Configure IAM roles, policies, and permissions to ensure least privilege access.
  • Mentoring, Team and Ways of Working: Take the lead on key projects, managing stakeholders, gathering requirements and updating the business on progress. Help to facilitate team processes and meetings where appropriate, delegating for the Team Lead when needed. Mentor and guide less experienced team members, helping the whole team to grow and develop as engineers.

  • You have a proven track record delivering large projects/improvements across complex Infrastructure deployments and platforms.
  • You have good knowledge of security best practices with expertise in implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines.
  • You’re experienced in containerization using Docker.
  • You have excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • You have strong networking and communication skills for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
