About the role: The Assistant Head Groundsperson will play a key role in assisting in the planning, supervision, and delivery of all track and grounds maintenance activities, ensuring the greyhound stadia is presented to the highest standards.

Responsibilities for the successful Assistant Head Groundsperson include (but are not limited to):

  • Support the Head Groundsperson in the maintenance and presentation of the racing surface and grounds to the highest standards.
  • Assist with the preparation of the track for all trials and race meetings.
  • Maintain landscaped, customer-facing, and external areas, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment.
  • Operate, inspect, and maintain grounds machinery and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Promote and uphold greyhound welfare and adherence to GBGB Rules of Racing.
  • Assist with staff coordination, resource planning, and race day operations.
  • Work collaboratively with racing staff, officials, contractors, and governing bodies.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership, initiative, and decision-making skills in daily operations.
  • Contribute to the overall upkeep and continuous improvement of the stadium grounds and facilities.

  • Strong communication skills – able to communicate at all levels.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Ability to work to strict pressured deadlines.
  • Lanta Tractor Qualification including safe use of attachments.
  • Full clean driving license.
  • Tractor driving and machinery operation experience essential.
