We’re looking for a Safety Officer (Level 4, Spectator Safety Management) to take centre stage in delivering safe, seamless race days at Wolverhampton Racecourse.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead Event Day Safety Operations: As the Safety Officer, take overall responsibility for safety during licensed events, ensuring compliance with the Green Guide, safety certificates, and licensing requirements.
- Plan & Prepare: Coordinate stewarding, security, and medical provisions in advance of each event ensuring our venues are event‑ready and fully compliant.
- Live Safety Command: Be the central point of control on event days from opening the gates to leading emergency responses and overseeing crowd safety.
- Post-Event Accountability: Conduct debriefings, investigate incidents, and prepare detailed reports including pre‑insurance documentation.
- Liaise & Collaborate: Work closely with senior management, emergency services, and local Safety Advisory Groups (SAG).
- Dual Sport Events: Seamlessly manage transitions when horse and greyhound racing occur on the same day.
About you
- NVQ Level 4 in Spectator Safety (essential)
- IOSH Managing Safely (minimum)
- At least 2 years’ experience in event safety management
- Strong knowledge of the Green Guide to Safety at Sports Grounds
- Ability to lead under pressure and make critical decisions quickly
- Experience in incident management and emergency planning
- Excellent communication skills with a collaborative mindset
- Strong leadership under pressure, able to manage large teams and stakeholders
