We are looking for a passionate and knowledgeable Hospitality Assistant to join our exciting site. At ARC we embrace diversity, we develop our people, we care for our visitors, we think about our impact and we are proud of our sport.
Located within High Gosforth Park, Newcastle Racecourse is home to the historic Northumberland Plate, and is one of Britain’s busiest racecourses, hosting over 60 all-weather and jumps fixtures a year. An ideal venue for all occasions, the racecourse can host events of all kinds, including conferences, exhibitions, weddings, private parties and more.
Responsibilities for the successful Hospitality Assistant include (but are not limited to):
- To lead from the front in delivering smooth execution of catering provision and service for racing restaurants and hospitality, as well as non-racing client events and functions.
- Briefing and training members of the hospitality & event FOH team in core skills to always deliver high quality customer service and professionalism.
- Setting up of race day restaurants, bars and functions as well as non-racing events and meeting rooms to set standards, organisation of furniture, crockery, glass, stock, AV and any other associated equipment.
- Co-ordinate and deliver administrative tasks as required for race day and non-racing events, with interdepartmental communication and liaising with all areas of the racecourse.
- To meet and greet clients with a passionate and welcoming attitude as and when required, handling any customer complaints in a professional and efficient manner.
- Collate event customer and client feedback and complete event handover documents.
- Act as responsible Duty manager for functions ensuring a safe environment for staff and customers, opening and securing of site and adhering to health and safety compliance with event manager checklists followed and recorded.
- Have a strong allergen and intolerance understanding to the required level per FSA allergy compliance.
- Management and accountability for compliance around allergens.
- Ensure all allergen information is correct via indicator and the QR code builder.
- Assisting the catering department in stock control and management, whilst maintaining a clean and safe working day-to-day environment with records and control measures adhered to.
- Always ensure a safe working environment and that you, other staff and clients work in accordance with the company’s health and safety policy and procedures.
- Undertake other reasonable duties in line with business demands.
The person we are looking for as a Hospitality Assistant has:
- Previous hospitality experience in catering or events environment.
- Able to handle fast paced high pressure environment.
- Positive attitude and strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team with initiative.
- Strong food and drink product knowledge.
- Strong knowledge on food allergens.
- Level 2 Food Hygiene.
