Great Yarmouth Racecourse is currently recruiting for a race day Hospitality Manager. This is a casual season position centered around the delivery of award-winning service to our guests on a race day, however there are additional dates available for the right candidate. To be considered for this role you must be available to work shifts on the following dates:
- April 11th, 21st and 30th
- May 13th, 20th and 28th
- June 10th, 11th and 26th
- July 2nd, 8th, 15th, 23rd and 28th
- August 2nd, 5th, 14th and 30th
- September 15th, 16th, and 17th
- October 5th, 12th and 20th
There may also be set-up and break down shifts available around these dates if you are wanting additional work.
The Person
- Be a team player; working as an integral part of our casual race day supervisory team to ensure everything is running smoothly.
- Be motivational; have the ability to mentor and lead your team.
- Be attentive; providing top class customer service at all times.
Responsibilities
- To oversee an area of food and beverage, ensuring that the quality of product and service remain consistent in line with standard operating procedures.
- To ensure that all guests are served in an efficient, professional and courteous manner at all times.
- To assist with the training and development of your team, developing skills and maximising performance through coaching of individual team members.
- Responsibility for ensuring that staff are signed in/out, fully briefed and given allocated breaks in accordance to SOP’s.
- Adjusting staffing levels as required in line with business requirements.
- Ensure guests receive the highest standard of customer service at all times.
- Be able to advise guests on all products available within the venue.
- To promote a happy and welcoming atmosphere within the venue.
- Ensure that bar and public areas are kept clean and tidy before, during and after opening hours and to undertake cleaning duties as required – paying particular attention to Health and Safety and COSHH Guidelines.
- Maintain stock levels and rotation behind bars and storage areas in order to avoid waste and assist with stocktaking.
- Adhere to and follow all licensing policies and procedures.
- Ensure that you and your team adhere to company procedures regarding allergens.
- Show commercial awareness in order to continuously drive the business forwards.
- To be proactive in maximising sales and generating revenue.
- To take prompt action to resolve complaints according to company policy.
- Give clear direction and guidelines to team members.
- To assist in the resolution of performance problems as necessary and in line with company policy.
- Proactively motivate and encourage team commitment and spirit.
- Delegate and manage the distribution of work throughout the team effectively and fairly.
- To ensure all team members adhere to company uniform standards and are dressed appropriately for their role in the correct uniform in accordance with company and health and safety regulations.
- Ensure that PPE is worn where necessary.
- Ensure all paperwork is completed fully in an accurate and timely manner.
- Ensure all orders are dispensed and rung through tills using the prescribed Racecourse procedure.
- Ensure all tills are closed down in accordance with company procedures.
- To have clear working knowledge of all company policies and operate within them at all times.
- To ensure staff awareness of relevant company policies.
- Act as an information point for customers.
- Record wastage in line with venue procedures and dispose of rubbish in line with any onsite recycling initiatives.
- Undertake other reasonable duties in line with business demands.

- Proven track record in a previous relevant position.
- An experienced leader with an eye for detail.
- The ability to build a relationship with a new team event by event.
- Be smart, polite, professional and well presented at all times.
- Excellent verbal communication, interpersonal and customer care skills.

- Management experience in a high-end food and drinks business or restaurant environment.
- Be knowledgeable in licensing, food hygiene and health & safety theory and implementation.
- Personal License Holder (desirable).
