About the role: As a Grounds Person, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining a first-class racing surface throughout the year, ensuring it meets the highest standards of safety, quality, and presentation. Working as part of a dedicated team, you’ll help care for all outdoor areas, contributing to the overall look and feel of the venue, while also supporting the upkeep of estate buildings and equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting with the year-round maintenance of the racing surface
- Preparing, maintaining, and reinstating the course before, during, and after race meetings
- Operating tractors, machinery, and maintenance equipment
- Maintaining lawns, gardens, and parade rings to a high presentation standard
- Carrying out general upkeep of external areas including stables, car parks, tracks, and workshop areas
- Keeping all outdoor areas clear of weeds, rubbish, and debris
- Supporting raceday and event operations as required
- Working in line with all health and safety regulations and best practices
The person we are looking for as a Grounds Person has/is:
- Someone who enjoys working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Reliable with excellent attendance
- Organised, reliable and able to work well under pressure
- Flexible approach to working hours, including late evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays
- Good communication and time management skills
- Full clean driving licence
