About the role

This is a key permanent, part time role within Arena Racing Company (ARC) assisting with the delivery of our racehorse ownership strategy. Working within a fast paced and changing environment, the role will require weekly travel across our racecourses, this role will support the Group Head of Racing Industry Partners and Racecourse Executive Directors in their delivery and execution of the race day experience. You will be required to form and maintain strong relationships with racehorse owners, syndicates managers, trainers and other key stakeholders, becoming a proactive lead contact for specific racecourses.

Key responsibilities for the role will include:

  • Attend agreed number of race days supporting and observing Owners & Trainers and stakeholder arrangements, and occasionally support other racecourses if required.
  • Support Racecourse Executive Directors in the delivery of Owners & Trainers facilities and experiences, contributing ideas and suggestions for improvement and best practice, ensuring SOP delivery and offering practical support to helping racecourses achieve this.
  • Support Racecourse Executive Directors with the management and briefing of casual staff for Owners & Trainers teams ensuring they positively understand, embrace and implement ARC SOPs.
  • Identify notable trends around runners including key horses, owners, syndicates and trainers at Declaration stage, communicating information in a timely manner to agreed circulation list.
  • Build strong relationships with syndicate managers, identifying and contacting at Entry and Declaration stages to communicate badge policies and Syndicate Lounge arrangements.
  • Actively encourage owner lead feedback to positively influence ROA & NARS Gold Standard scoring.
  • Establish yourself as a point of contact for Owners visiting your assigned racecourses, ensuring excellent networking during race days.
  • Managing a Concierge service for a selected number of racehorse Owners and Trainers (identified by ARC), providing them with an optimum experience.
  • Support coordinating memento stock and asset levels providing regular stock takes and information.
  • Fortnightly, provide written and attend Owners Liaison ‘Teams’ meetings to share experiences, best practices, offer ideas and innovation and summarise racecourse visits.
  • Notify Racecourse Executive Director and your line manager of any significant issues on a race day as soon as possible on the day so that they can be dealt with swiftly, efficiently and professionally.
  • Support Frequent Runner rewards scheme when owners dine on race days you are present.

Skills, Experience and Competencies:

  • Be a reliable and consistent team player.
  • Sound racing industry knowledge, and awareness of leading Owners & Trainers.
  • Excellent communication and administration skills.
  • Be pro-active with time management and prioritising skills ensuring this busy role is carried out effectively and efficiently.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent IT skills, literacy, numeracy and keyboard skills.
  • Good telephone and written skills, a commitment to providing excellent customer service and able to handle challenging situations with resilience and confidence.
