Reporting to: CFO

Build. Control. Improve.

Are you an experienced Finance Manager who thrives in a fast-moving environment? Are you looking for a role where you can build, improve and influence, rather than simply maintain an established finance function? As a growing company, this is an opportunity to join at an exciting stage and help shape the systems, processes and infrastructure that will support its next phase of growth.

Areera is a tech‑led recycling business focused on transforming the way electronic waste is recovered and reused. Combining advanced recycling processes with automation, robotics and data‑driven technology, areera is scaling its UK operations and building a business focused on recovering valuable materials and supporting the circular economy.

The Role

Reporting directly to the CFO, you will take ownership of financial control, month‑end close, cash and working capital, management reporting and key finance processes. This is a high‑impact, hands‑on role for someone who enjoys working at pace, solving problems and getting into the detail. You will be joining a business where processes and systems are still developing, so the ability to take ownership, make decisions and build structure is essential.

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading and coordinating the monthly financial close and production of management accounts
  • Preparing and reviewing P&L, balance sheet and cash flow reporting
  • Managing the daily cash position and 13‑week cash flow forecasting
  • Driving improvements across aged debtors, creditors and working capital
  • Maintaining robust balance sheet reconciliations and financial controls
  • Leading and developing the finance and administration teams across a multi‑site operation
  • Overseeing purchase‑to‑pay and order‑to‑cash processes
  • Managing accruals, pre‑payments, fixed assets, inter‑company balances and other month‑end accounting
  • Supporting budgeting, forecasting, margin analysis and commercial decision‑making
  • Coordinating VAT and routine tax compliance
  • Supporting audit, statutory reporting and year‑end requirements
  • Overseeing finance systems, reporting processes and data integrity
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes, automation, controls and efficiency

About You

We are looking for a qualified or part‑qualified accountant, or an experienced finance professional with strong management accounting experience. You will be commercially minded, highly analytical and confident working in an environment where priorities can move quickly. You will need to be:

  • Comfortable working at pace and managing competing priorities
  • Hands‑on and willing to get into the detail
  • Confident working in a growing business where processes are still being developed and automated
  • Strong technically, particularly across management accounts and balance sheet control
  • Experienced in cash management and working capital
  • Highly capable with Excel and finance systems
  • Confident challenging, investigating and finding solutions
  • Able to communicate financial information clearly to non‑finance colleagues
  • Someone who takes ownership and gets things done

Why Join areera?

You won't simply inherit an established finance function and follow existing processes. You'll have the opportunity to help shape how finance operates, strengthen controls, improve processes and work closely with the CFO as areera continues to grow. If you thrive in an environment where things move quickly, problems need solving and there is genuine scope to make your mark, this could be the opportunity for you.
