Your Role
As our Deputy Manager, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Registered Manager with the daily operations of our service. Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting the Registered Manager and stepping in when needed to oversee the home's daily activities.
- Supervising, guiding, and supporting staff to ensure effective communication and high standards of practice.
- Managing key operational areas such as care quality, recruitment, training, and basic financial duties.
- Assessing young people's needs and contributing to personalized care plans that address their cultural, social, and emotional needs.
- Promoting positive behaviour, independence, and active participation in decision-making.
- Ensuring compliance with safeguarding requirements and relevant legislation.
- Maintaining accurate records, including care plans and risk assessments.
- Building strong relationships with young people, families, staff, and external professionals.
- Supporting staffing needs, including recruitment and training.
- Assisting with admissions to ensure a smooth transition for each young person.
- Attending meetings to share key information within the team and partner agencies.
Essential Skills
We are looking for candidates who possess:
- 2+ years of residential childcare experience.
- A Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce or equivalent.
- Child protection experience.
- Strong leadership and staff supervision skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Experience in managing budgets and staff rotas.
- Project management skills and a proactive, solution-focused attitude.
