The Junior Multiskilled Technician supports the maintenance, servicing, and repair of the Council's fleet of commercial vehicles and mobile plant (approx 200 vehicles, including road sweepers). Working under the guidance of the Senior Multiskilled Technician, the postholder will assist with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and basic fabrication tasks. This role provides a development pathway towards a fully qualified Multiskilled Technician.
Please note there is 1 permanent post based in Balloo Depot, Bangor; however, successful candidates will work throughout the Borough. The working hours are Monday to Thursday 8.00 am to 4.00 pm and Friday 7.00 am to 1.00 pm. A reserve list may be kept from this recruitment exercise. Applicants must be available to work outside normal working hours or to work at other sites within the Borough if required. Appointment will be subject to satisfactory completion of a medical questionnaire including a pre-employment Drugs and Alcohol Screening. - ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- NVQ Level 2 Vehicle Maintenance and Repair OR 4 years mechanical experience in vehicle maintenance, fabrication and electrics PLUS IMI Level 3 award in electric/hybrid vehicle system repair and replacement OR be willing to achieve this within 24 months of appointment
- EXPERIENCE
- 1 years experience in hydraulic and pneumatic vehicle systems
- 1 years experience in maintaining a large HGV fleet
- Experience of diagnosing faults and repairing vehicles using computer based diagnostic equipment
- Experience and certified in the welding of mild steel OR be willing to achieve this in 24 months of appointment
