Purpose and Function of the Post
To assist the Events Officers in the organisation and delivery of either a programme of major festivals or the annual programme of funding schemes to support events throughout the Borough, both in accordance with the Councils Integrated Tourism, Regeneration and Economic Development Strategy.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
There are two Events Assistant roles. One will assist with event delivery and development and the other will assist with the annual programme of events funding schemes. The generic duties and role-specific duties are listed below. Both Post Holders:
- Process invoices and maintain records relating to the Events budgets.
- Provide the Marketing Service and Visitor Information Centre with event information to service public enquiries.
- Undertake general clerical, administrative, and secretarial duties in support of the Events Officer.
- Liaise with other Council Officers and Services/Directorates and with external organisations in the public, private, and voluntary sectors as directed.
- Work at events delivered by the Council.
- Comply with and promote equality, health and safety in accordance with Council policies and legal requirements.
- Undertake any other appropriate duties as may be allocated from time to time in accordance with the general nature of the post.
Please note: Both post holders are required to be available for duty at various events, often in the evenings, at weekends, and on public/bank holidays.
Events Assistant (Delivery and Development)
Assist in the organisation and delivery of major festivals and annual events, e.g. booking artists and hiring equipment and materials. Maintain an events equipment inventory.
Events Assistant (Grants and Evaluation)
Assist with the development and delivery of the annual events grant funding programme. Assist the Events Officer with the management of a Market Research contract and any other in-house market research models. Maintain an inventory of promotional materials and merchandise and allocate these to the relevant grant-aided events.
