To assist with the efficient day to day running of City Hall, Bangor, or Church Street, Newtownards.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To operate and monitor the security of the City Hall and other buildings with operational responsibility for the CCTV system and the car park barrier.
  • Keyholder duties, responsible for opening and closing the buildings on a day-to-day basis ensuring the building is secure and that alarms are activated.
  • To assist in carrying out the set-up of a number of rooms for functions, training or meetings, as required.
  • To vet all deliveries to City Hall and other buildings by checking delivery notes and ensuring delivery to the correct departments.
  • To assist with portering/lifting of deliveries to, and despatches from, City Hall and other buildings, to all locations throughout the Borough.
  • The patrolling of all pathways, open areas and car parks to check security of City Hall and other buildings.
  • To assist the general public and visitors to find their appropriate access point to City Hall and other buildings.
  • To assist Registration at weddings and other functions as required.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the building, to a high standard, using chemicals and following safety protocols, as required.
  • Take bookings in City Hall, Church Street for events and meetings taking place, in accordance with set procedures.
  • To prepare tea and coffee for meetings in all sites that have been booked and clean thereafter.
  • To comply with and promote equality, health, and safety in accordance with Council Policies and legal requirements and undertake mandatory training.
  • To undertake any other appropriate duties as may be allocated from time to time in accordance with the general nature of the post.

Duties Specific to City Hall, Bangor:

  • To assist the City Hall Supervisor in all aspects of his/her work.
  • Responsible for the building, ancillary services, and in-house catering facility in his/her absence.
  • Report any issue to the Supervisor.
  • To drive council vehicles as required for e.g., collecting and delivering post.

Experience:

  • Essential: Experience of security duties, Previous cleaning experience.

Other Requirements:

  • A valid driving licence.
  • The ability to work additional hours during evenings and weekends to assist with events and weddings.
  • Applicants must be flexible and will work across both City Hall and Church Street as required.
  • Appointment will be subject to satisfactory completion of a driver assessment and medical questionnaire.
  • The selection panel reserves the right to enhance the shortlisting criteria to facilitate the process when necessary.
