- Leakage Data & Field Team Leader – South East Water Framework
- Working
- Pattern: 4 days office-based / 1 day field-based per week
- About Our Client
Our client works in partnership with South East Water, supporting the delivery of essential clean water services across the region.
The framework has a strong focus on reducing leakage, improving network performance and ensuring field activity is delivered safely, efficiently and to a consistently high standard.
Through a combination of experienced field teams, data-led decision making and effective operational management, the team plays an important role in identifying leakage, validating field findings and improving overall performance across the network.
The Role
We are looking for a Leakage Data & Field Team Leader to join the South East Water framework, based from Basingstoke.
This is a hybrid operational and analytical Team Leader position, combining data analysis and performance management with hands-on leadership of field-based leakage teams.
The role will typically involve four days per week in the Basingstoke office, analysing information received from field engineers, identifying trends and opportunities, monitoring team performance and ensuring the quality and accuracy of field data.
The remaining one day per week will be spent in the field, working directly with engineers to provide team management, carry out validations, assess the quality of investigations and ensure work is being completed in accordance with South East Water and framework requirements.
This role would suit someone who understands leakage operations but is equally comfortable working with large amounts of data and using that information to improve field performance.
Key Responsibilities
You will take responsibility for supporting and managing the performance of field leakage teams while using operational data to identify opportunities for improvement.
Your responsibilities will include
- Analysing data submitted by field engineers and leakage technicians.
- Reviewing field productivity, leakage detection activity, validation results and operational performance.
- Using Excel, dashboards, pivot tables and other reporting tools to identify trends, exceptions and areas requiring further investigation.
- Producing regular reports and performance updates for operational management.
- Identifying inconsistencies or gaps within field data and working with engineers to improve data quality.
- Using data to help prioritise areas, workloads and resources across the South East Water framework.
- Monitoring individual and team KPIs and identifying opportunities to improve productivity and performance.
- Providing day-to-day leadership and support to field engineers.
- Working closely with operational managers to ensure field resources are deployed effectively.
- Spending approximately one day per week in the field carrying out team management and validation activities.
- Undertaking field validations to confirm the accuracy and quality of leakage investigations.
- Coaching and supporting engineers where improvements are required.
- Ensuring field teams follow agreed processes, procedures and health and safety requirements.
- Acting as a link between field operations and office-based data/performance teams, ensuring information from the field is converted into meaningful operational insight.
- Proactively identifying opportunities to improve processes, reporting and overall leakage performance.
- What You'll Bring to the Team
We are looking for someone who combines strong analytical ability with confident people management skills.
You should be comfortable working with data for the majority of the week while also having the confidence to manage and support operational teams in the field.
The successful candidate will ideally have
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, formulas and data analysis.
- Experience working with dashboards, reporting systems or operational performance data.
- The ability to interpret large datasets and turn information into clear operational actions.
- Strong organisational and workload management skills.
- Previous experience supervising, leading or supporting field-based teams.
- Excellent communication skills and the confidence to provide constructive feedback.
- The ability to identify performance issues and work with individuals to improve results.
- A proactive approach to identifying trends, problems and opportunities.
- The ability to work effectively between an office and field environment.
- Experience within the water, utilities, leakage or infrastructure sectors would be highly advantageous.
- A full UK driving licence due to the field-based element of the position.
Why This Role?
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to progress beyond a traditional leakage analyst or field-based position into a role that combines data analysis, operational leadership and field management.
Rather than simply reporting on performance, you will have the opportunity to use the information you uncover to directly influence how teams operate in the field.
You will play a key role in improving data quality, engineer performance and leakage outcomes across the South East Water framework.
If you are analytical, confident working with field teams and motivated by using data to drive operational improvements, we would be interested in hearing from you.
